December update 2024

I’m TRYING to hit actual targets and raise issues. I don’t see the need to do thousands of words agreeing with myself. An op-ed is only valuable if it adds more options for consideration, not banging away on Us or Them.

Op-Ed: People don’t want to work? Guess again, morons. Nothing could be further from the truth than this idiotic unworkable idea that people don’t want to work. They want to work and get somewhere by working.

Op-Ed: What’s wrong with private debt, apart from the headlines?  Private debt increases mean people are maxed out somewhere in the credit market. Not at all surprising, but potentially nasty if that debt caves in.

Op-Ed: Naivete, greed, unpreparedness + stupidity = 30% job losses? THAT dumb. Yet again, market delusions about AI are making things worse. That will be a very bad mistake for the market and gullible investors.

Op-Ed: Dark energy doesn’t exist? The universe just isn’t playing ball with the theory About time this came up. I’ve never been impressed with a “theory of physics” which can’t even be bothered to define itself.

Op-Ed: AGI — Not mad science or bad science, but way too much spin in the market Artificial General Intelligence will be the first real AI. They’re not there yet.

Op-Ed: Kinda clunky — The speed of human thought is 10 bits per second? There has to be more to it than this, but it’s the first actual measurement.

Op-Ed: Sugarcoating the cyanide — Economic unrealism, the new pandemic The ridiculous promises superimposed on a global economy being crushed by its own incompetence are sort of funny, but the price must be paid.

Op-Ed: It’s not just corrupt AI – Can you believe what you read about AI? Short answer, no you can’t believe it, and this is why.

Op-Ed: Yet another threat to all life on Earth — Mirror life bacteria and an insane culture The sheer monotony of threats to life on Earth is getting a bit tedious. This is yet another self-inflicted effort.

Op-Ed: Vast numbers of AI idiot grad cheats and no comeback? There IS a way. The risk of grad fraud can solve itself. This is how.

Op-Ed: Brain rot — Is the Oxford University Press word of the year too honest? If you assume that the idiots dominating screens are the whole story, it’s a good choice.

Op-Ed: Retirement age, pensions, revenue, and nutcase economics The economics of retirement worked fine until someone decided to use spurious metrics and “disrupt” things.

Op-Ed: DOGE — Disaster on its way Yet another idiot-inspired idiocy.

Op-Ed: Dunce level policy — Devalue the dollar + tariffs = massive increases in cost of living No kindergarten kid with basic numeracy skills would think this was a good idea. These morons do.

Op-Ed: The Australian social media ban isn’t cosmetic. What about your own kids? Well, what about them? Is social media suddenly problem-free?
