This is the intro to Oak, the fourth book in the Threat-Hamster series:
Said Spirit:
“Heartless are the lives of men,
Tedious and trivial, drab and vile
Hypocrisy made of falsehood’s fears
To spread its stench through mortal years
What does time pass, but itself?
What’s its future, what’s its wealth?
Too hard a task for men of steel or shade
Too delicate for finest blade
Humans! Learn! For once, a clue!
To be free can only mean to be true!
To yourself, your hopes, your loves and your scars
To be false is to be nothing; no more than a farce
Born to walk in storm and smile
Laughing harder by the mile
Walking down the greatest aisle
Bless the wind and the roaring stars
O Gods of Oak and wildest joy
May you laugh now and ever after.”
