Unquestioning AI worshippers, you have a lot to learn.

Artificial intelligence has barely gotten itself out of the egg yet. Anyone would think that it was a science fiction monster straight out of the 1950s. You’re throwing huge money at a chatbot. This is just a chatbot with more access to information.

If you search “how to use AI”, you’ll get a kindergarten playroom. It’s a pretty useful search actually. Take a look around and you will see a lot that is very familiar from the startup era of digital technology. Everything is laid out very simply.

It needs to be simple. You are definitely not going tobecome instantly familiar with the technology of artificial intelligence. It is complex, it is demanding, and it does involve a level of patience most people simply don’t have.

The complexity is caused by translating very basic processes into electronics. This really isn’t thinking technology. At least, not yet.

So why are people so terrified of artificial intelligence? They’ve been talked into it.  they don’t understand it, therefore they are terrified of it.

In practice, there’s not much to be scared of. Artificial intelligence is very like coding in one way. It simply does what you tell what to do. The question is whether you are right or wrong, not whether it’s taking your job or not.

I’ve written quite a lot on the subject of artificial intelligence, and at this stage it’s getting quite boring. You can only get so enthusiastic about reiterating the same points in context with different operations.

This article is a case in point. Music generated by artificial intelligence is basically a lowest common denominator. You’re using the same old patches in the same old way; it’s just that you’re using artificial intelligence instead of blundering around yourself.

Artificial intelligence as a writer isn’t really all that bad. The main problem is that it lacks the insights and Instincts of a human writer.  There are thematic gaps in the narrative. These are the sorts of gaps that readers naturally fill in for themselves. Things like embarrassment and bafflement. Rage or fear.

These are mental sub-routines that artificial intelligence simply doesn’t have yet.  This is where the naivety of unquestioning artificial intelligence worship kicks in.

A calculator can process numbers. It can’t question those numbers. Every entry made by artificial intelligence is based on the assumption of valid information.

That’s ridiculous.

Are you going to assume that all your accounts and business information are one hundred percent accurate? You do need to oversight these things.

Abrogating the decision-making process to artificial intelligence is equally stupid. Artificial intelligence will make a decision based on whatever information, accurate or otherwise, Is fed to it.

Let’s go back to the “how to use AI” search for a minute. There are some very straightforward predictions you can make at this stage of development.

Artificial intelligence will eventually include a sort of double-entry function to ensure valid inputs. This is really just quality control, making sure that the data entered is functional.

You can see why it’s required. There is no point in entering vast amounts of inaccurate or unreliable data and creating a process that simply can’t work.

The irony here is that this very simple unavoidable fact completely negates the idea of firing everybody and replacing them with AI.

Another article was about “AI vs everything”, specifically the internet. This is using a Rolls Royce as a dung cart. AI can certainly make life a lot easier for searches and search engine optimization. This is a real no-brainer and shouldn’t even really be a subject for discussion.

Used properly, artificial intelligence would simply index the entire internet properly and make it a lot easier to use. Anyone who’s seen the ridiculous search outcomes we are inflicted with daily should be able to figure that out for themselves. Searches have become ludicrous. The sheer amount of irrelevant information incorporated into a search is beyond absurd.

It’s more than slightly ironic that the people who harp on endlessly about productivity tolerate such an unproductive system. Yet the very last thing on anybody’s mind seems to be tidying up such an unholy mess.

Put it this way: “Read” and “List” are fundamental to any computer operation. The list function is what a search does. Reading is simply identifying search objects. AI can do this extremely efficiently, doing in nanoseconds by previous technology could only dream of doing.

This incredibly practical fundamental functionality seems to be getting no attention at all.

Yet another article was about the extremely important issues of biometrics and biometric rights. Your biometrics are your identity as far as any digital identification system goes. Another issue going begging in the hysteria about AI replacing people, Biometrics and biometric synthesis can easily replace people, quite literally. Just for the record, these issues also include massive legal liabilities for anybody creating AI images.

Then there’s the issue of AI dishonesty. This is likely to be a major millstone around AI development in the near future. Mistakes will be expensive. This really shouldn’t be any kind of issue at all, and dysfunctional operations are their own reward. This truly is a major screw up and it has to be fixed.

We’re not hearing about screw ups, though, are we? Everything’s just dandy in idiot city and billionaires are showering vast amounts of money for practically nothing in return.

Here’s something I’ve always wanted to say to you geniuses: “Think or die”.
